Atiku Abubakar Meets Rotimi Amaechi on 2027 Elections

On Wednesday, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar met with former Minister of Transport Rotimi Amaechi in a closed-door meeting at Amaechi's residence in Abuja. This meeting is believed to be related to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential ticket for the 2027 elections.

The discussion comes amid ongoing debates regarding whether the ADC candidacy should be zoned to the South. There are claims that Amaechi may step down to allow Atiku to run as a candidate.

Concurrently, Osuagwu, a former local government chairmanship candidate for the ADC in Imo State, wrote an open letter appealing to Atiku to support younger presidential candidates. Osuagwu emphasized that Atiku's repeated attempts to become Nigeria's president since 1992 no longer align with current political realities, suggesting that stepping aside would demonstrate wisdom and strengthen his legacy as a statesman.
