Atiku Abubakar Launches RiseUpNaija for 2027 Elections

On Saturday, Atiku Abubakar, the former Vice President of Nigeria, and his political ally Kashim Ibrahim-Imam, along with Chief Ralph Nwosu, the founding National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), inaugurated state coordinators for the RiseUpNaija Movement (RUN) in Abuja. The initiative aims to mobilize 20 million votes for the ADC's presidential candidate in the 2027 elections.

Atiku stated that he seeks to build a Nigeria with accountable leadership and strong institutions, urging young Nigerians to actively participate in the electoral process and reject vote-buying. He expressed concern over the current political establishment's view of youth as merely a resource for elections, instead recognizing them as the nation's greatest asset.

Atiku called for voters to prioritize competence and character in the upcoming elections, warning against exchanging long-term futures for short-term inducements. Kashim Ibrahim-Imam, as the convener of RUN, tasked the coordinators with enhancing membership registration.
