Atiku Urges Youths to Reject Vote Buying Ahead of 2027

Atiku Abubakar, the former Vice President of Nigeria, addressed participants at the inauguration of state coordinators of the Rise Up Naija Movement (RUN), a youth initiative of the ADC, during a leadership retreat held in Abuja. He emphasized that young Nigerians make up the largest voting population and must reject vote buying, political violence, and divisive politics ahead of the 2027 elections.

Atiku stated, “Your vote is far more valuable than any amount of money a politician can offer,” warning against exchanging future opportunities for immediate inducements. He highlighted the long-term consequences of electing incompetent leadership and urged youths to reject politicians who recruit them for intimidation or disruption.

Atiku encouraged young Nigerians to transform their social media influence into active political participation by registering to vote and defending the electoral process. He also called for unity among Nigerians, regardless of ethnic or religious backgrounds, and described the youth as the country’s greatest asset, urging them to mobilize and educate voters for a better future.
