Atiku Media Office Accuses INEC of Favoring ADC Faction

The Atiku Media Office issued a statement on Monday from Abuja, accusing the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of unlawfully granting portal access to Nafiu Bala Gomb, who claims to be the chairman of a rival faction of the African Democratic Congress (ADC). The statement alleges that this action aims to weaken the opposition party.

Nafiu Bala Gomb announced on July 11 that he successfully uploaded names of candidates to INEC's candidate nomination portal. However, Atiku Media Office contends that Gomb's claim lacks legal standing, as the leadership of the ADC is recognized under the guidance of former Senate President David Mark.

The statement insists that Gomb's submission is invalid and that INEC's actions reflect partisanship. Atiku Media Office urged INEC to clarify the circumstances surrounding the portal access granted to Gomb and called for him to refrain from actions that could create an internal crisis within the opposition party.
