Umeh Urges Atiku to Step Down for Younger Candidate

In a recent interview on Arise Television, Victor Umeh, the Anambra Central Senator, called on former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to step down in favor of a younger presidential candidate from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as Nigeria approaches the 2027 general elections. Umeh highlighted the importance of promoting younger politicians to lead the country, suggesting that Atiku, who has previously run for the presidency in 2003, should reconsider his candidacy.

He argued that the current political landscape requires fresh ideas and leadership to tackle Nigeria's challenges effectively. Umeh expressed that the desire for change among the populace necessitates a shift away from older candidates, stating that holding onto past leadership would hinder progress.

He emphasized that the political environment must evolve to allow younger individuals to contest and succeed, thereby fostering a new generation of leadership in Nigeria.
