Dickson Rules Out 2027 Presidential Bid Against Tinubu

Seriake Dickson, the former governor of Bayelsa State, has ruled out contesting the presidency against Bola Tinubu in the 2027 elections. During a press conference in Abuja, shortly after resigning from the People's Democratic Party (PDP), Dickson emphasized his commitment to building a credible political platform through the newly formed Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).

He stated that his immediate priority is to strengthen the NDC and attract Nigerians across party lines rather than pursuing personal ambitions. Dickson criticized the current state of the PDP, citing internal crises and poor leadership as reasons for his departure.

He called for a stronger democratic system in Nigeria and invited politicians from various political backgrounds to join the NDC. Dickson clarified that the NDC is distinct from the defunct Niger Delta Congress and aims to provide a broad-based national platform.

He expressed concern over the deteriorating political landscape and urged for a focus on building the party before discussing presidential ambitions.
