Former Minister of Transport, Amaechi, refuted reports on December 1 that Atiku's bloc was eyeing him as a potential VP candidate for the 2027 election. The African Democratic Congress (ADC) reportedly seeks an influential southern candidate as Atiku's running mate.

Amaechi's media aide, David Iyofor, rejected collaboration talks, emphasizing Amaechi's focus on potentially contesting the APC presidential primaries in 2022. Additionally, allegations by the ADC's Alhaji Musa Danladi Maikawa of politicizing insecurity to gain political attention have surfaced, accusing the ruling party of neglecting security challenges.
