Amaechi Urges Nigerians to Evaluate Candidates for 2027

Rotimi Amaechi, the vice-presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and former governor of Rivers State, addressed Nigerians regarding the upcoming 2027 elections during a panel session at the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) 2026 Annual General Conference in Rivers State. He urged voters to base their electoral choices on the candidates' capacity to deliver results.

Amaechi stated that if the ADC fails to perform, it should not receive votes. His comments come amid challenges for Nigeria's opposition bloc, which has struggled to unify against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Despite previous agreements among opposition leaders to support a single presidential candidate, no joint flagbearer has emerged. Amaechi acknowledged the difficulties in forming a coalition and stressed that any alliance must focus on governance results rather than political convenience.

He defended his tenure in Rivers State, citing visible infrastructure projects as evidence of his effectiveness, and called on voters to reject ethnic loyalty in their political decisions.
