2027 Election: Amaechi Vows to Eradicate Corruption in First Month as President or Resign

Former Rivers State governor and prominent Nigerian political figure, Amaechi, has vowed to eradicate corruption within the first month of his presidency in 2027 or resign. Speaking during a live conversation on X Space on Saturday, Amaechi criticized the current administration for mishandling funds and diverting benefits from the removal of petrol subsidy.

He strongly opposed the reintroduction of the subsidy, arguing that it is economically damaging. Amaechi promised to redirect the savings from the subsidy removal towards national development and poverty alleviation.

He recently joined forces with major opposition leaders to form a coalition under the African Democratic Congress (ADC) platform, aiming to challenge the ruling party in the 2027 general election. Amaechi expressed his willingness to serve only one term if he secures the ADC presidential ticket, emphasizing his commitment to swift and impactful governance.

Additionally, there have been talks within the ADC of former President Jonathan possibly joining the party for the 2027 election.
