ADC Faces Internal Strife Over Peter Obi's Support Ahead of 2027 Elections

Ahead of the 2027 elections, the African Democrat Congress (ADC) is facing internal strife as cracks appear due to Peter Obi's unwavering support, leading to divisions within the party. Former governor Peter Obi's strong backing, popularly known as "Obidi," has caused displeasure among some ADC leaders, particularly in the North, who feel his approach is overbearing.

Concerns have been raised about the potential divisiveness caused by Obi's support, with party figures like Ralph Nwozu and Bolaji Abdullahi expressing worries about the party's unity. Kingsley Ogga, the Kogi State ADC chairman, has also cautioned that Obi's support could hinder the party's progress.

Analysts believe that the ADC coalition may have a better chance of defeating President Bola Tinubu in the upcoming elections, with discussions reportedly being held with former President Goodluck Jonathan regarding a possible presidential run in 2027.
