2027 Election: Jonathan, Atiku, Obi Told to Join PDP Presidential Race, “The More, the Merrier”

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has urged former President Goodluck Jonathan, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, and former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi to join the presidential race for the 2027 election. A chieftain of the party, Gbenga, emphasized the importance of having multiple strong candidates, stating "the more, the merrier." The PDP's chief press secretary, Ibrahim Hassan Mahmoud, welcomed the politicians ahead of the party primary, aiming for a competitive and transparent process to uphold the party's democratic legacy.

The PDP national financial secretary, Daniel Woyengikuro, confirmed Jonathan's return to the party, highlighting his continued influence. However, another PDP chieftain, Umar Sani, expressed a preference for Jonathan as the party's presidential candidate over Peter Obi.

The party has also agreed to zone the presidency to the South in 2027 during a meeting hosted by FCT Minister Nyesom.
