2027: ‘Jonathan Abandoned The Party After 2015’ – PDP NWC Member Condemns Planned Return

A senior member of the PDP National Working Committee (NWC) has criticized the reported plans for former President Goodluck Jonathan to return to the party ahead of the 2027 elections. The NWC member questioned why Jonathan left the party at a critical time after the 2015 elections.

While some NEC members support the idea of Jonathan's return, others believe the party already has credible presidential prospects, such as Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde and Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed. Sources within the PDP leadership revealed that the party has formally approached Jonathan and his former Vice President, Peter Obi, about their potential return.

However, there are mixed feelings within the party about Jonathan's eligibility due to a 2018 constitutional amendment barring anyone who has been sworn in twice as president or governor from contesting. Some members believe that advocating for Jonathan's candidacy is motivated by selfish interests.
