NDC Chairmen Denounce Obidient and Kwankwasiyyah Campaigns

State chairmen of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) have united in their stance against the campaign structures established by the Obidient and Kwankwasiyyah movements, declaring them illegal. They emphasized that the NDC holds the ultimate authority over campaign activities as the 2027 elections approach.

This declaration followed the NDC's disavowal of a 59-member campaign committee announced by the OK Movement for presidential candidate Peter Obi and his running mate, Rabiu Kwankwaso, on September 19. NDC chairman Charles Omidiji stated that candidates must seek party clearance before campaigning, warning that those who act independently would do so at their own risk.

Other chairmen, including Hussaini Meriga and Femi Alao, echoed these sentiments, with Alao mentioning a framework to unify interest groups in Ogun State. However, some chairmen reported cooperation within their chapters, while others, like David Chukwudifu, expressed concerns about being sidelined by the Obidient Movement.
