Opposition Parties Unite for 2027 Election Coalition

As Nigeria approaches the 2027 general elections, opposition parties are actively working to form a mega coalition to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) led by President Bola Tinubu. Yusuf Dantal, the chairman of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), stated that discussions among opposition parties are ongoing, even as presidential candidates begin to emerge.

Dantal emphasized the importance of forming alliances based on political interests and regional strengths to enhance electoral advantages. He noted that the People's Democratic Party (PDP) and the All People's Movement (APM) are currently maintaining a working relationship across the country, particularly in Oyo State.

Dantal also mentioned that Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde is pursuing presidential ambitions through the APM while maintaining ties with the PDP. Furthermore, he called for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to facilitate open discussions among political parties regarding recent court judgments affecting electoral guidelines, urging against unnecessary legal battles that could create tensions ahead of the elections.
