2027 Election: “Why North Will Back Atiku-Obi Ticket,” Top Political Analyst Explains

Political analyst Dare Glintstone Akinniyi, spokesperson for the New Democratic Frontiers (NDF), predicts that 19 northern states will support former Vice President Atiku Abubakar in the 2027 general election. Akinniyi attributes this to Atiku's popularity and the choice of his running mate.

Atiku recently left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to join forces with other opposition leaders, including Peter Obi and former Kaduna governor Nasir, forming the African Democratic Congress (ADC). Akinniyi believes that the ruling party has failed to deliver on its promises, leading to a potential shift in support towards Atiku.

He also suggests that Atiku could secure a victory if he decides to run against President Bola Tinubu in 2027. Atiku has expressed confidence in the ADC coalition and its ability to challenge the ruling party in the upcoming election.
