Group Warns Against Electoral Manipulation for 2027 Elections

The Igbo Agenda Dialogue, a pro-democracy non-partisan socio-political organization, issued a warning regarding potential electoral manipulation for the 2027 general elections in Nigeria. They cautioned that such actions could plunge the country into crisis and threaten its democratic future.

The statement, co-signed by Chairman Chekwa Okori and Executive Secretary Jonathan Elendu, urged politicians, electoral officials, and security agencies to conduct themselves responsibly during the elections. The group highlighted that the 2027 presidential election is already shaping up to be a competitive contest in Nigeria's democratic history.

They called for a focus on pressing issues rather than divisive rhetoric and emphasized the importance of a credible electoral process to inspire public confidence. The organization also announced a nationwide voter mobilization campaign to encourage eligible Nigerians to participate in the electoral process, particularly during the ongoing voter registration exercise.

They warned that any attempts to undermine the electoral process could lead to severe consequences for national peace and stability.
