2027: Even if new INEC chairman’s son contests for presidency, Tinubu will win – APC

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has expressed confidence that President Bola Tinubu will retain the Nigerian presidency in 2027, regardless of who his opponents may be. This statement comes as the issue of appointing a new chairman for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) arises, with the current chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, expected to step down this year.

The National Secretary of the ruling party, Ajibola Basiru, emphasized that even if the new INEC chairman's son were to contest for the presidency, Tinubu would still emerge victorious. Basiru compared the situation to asking a player to recommend a referee, highlighting the need for a neutral and unbiased electoral body.
