Fear Grips Daura APC as Ex-DSS Boss Declares Gubernatorial Ambition for 2027 Elections

Fear and anxiety have engulfed the Daura chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Katsina State following the declaration of interest by Lawal Musa Daura, the former Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), to contest the 2027 governorship elections. Daura is set to run on the platform of the African Democratic Party (ADC) after participating in the party's recent youth mobilization program in Katsina.

His entry into the race has unsettled the entrenched power bloc within the APC, with stakeholders expressing concern over the potential reshaping of loyalties and political dynamics in the district. Despite Daura's strong security background and elite connections, his gubernatorial bid has raised tensions among APC members, particularly in Daura.

On the other hand, local APC leaders, including Nasir Yahaya Daura, have expressed support for Governor Dikko Umaru Radda's re-election bid in 2027. The endorsement event held in Daura witnessed low turnout but highlighted the collective aspirations of the people in the area.
