Zamfara Governor Ties Future to Appeal Court Ruling

Dauda Lawal, the Governor of Zamfara State, has stated that his political future is contingent upon the outcome of an Appeal Court ruling concerning the leadership crisis within the People's Democratic Party (PDP). Lawal made this disclosure during a PDP stakeholders meeting held at the Government House in Gusau on Tuesday.

He emphasized that the next political moves of the party will be determined by the court's decision regarding the legitimacy of Kabiru Turaki's leadership. Mustapha Jafaru Kaura, the special adviser on media and public enlightenment, noted that the meeting involved stakeholders from all 14 local government areas of the state.

Kaura explained that the gathering was convened in response to new guidelines issued by the Independent National Electoral Commission ahead of the 2027 general elections. He indicated that the party is currently facing uncertainties, especially with ongoing litigations at the national level.

Lawal stressed the need for clarity in the party's leadership structure, as the court's ruling will significantly influence the political direction leading up to the elections.
