Adamawa APC Faces Setback as Ex-Speaker Resigns

Kabiru Mijinyawa, a fourth-term lawmaker and former Speaker of the Adamawa State House of Assembly from 2015 to 2019, announced his resignation from the All Progressives Congress (APC) following his defeat in the party's primary election for the Yola South Federal Constituency ticket to Ahmad Salihijo. Mijinyawa, who has been a member of the state assembly since 2011, expressed his discontent with the internal processes of the APC, stating they were inconsistent with democratic principles.

His resignation letter emphasized his inability to associate with what he deemed an unjust process. This development comes shortly after another APC figure, Abdulrahman Haske, was unveiled as the APM governorship candidate for the 2027 election, further raising concerns about the APC's stability in Adamawa as political preparations intensify.

Haske's departure was motivated by a desire for a people-centered development agenda, focusing on various priorities if elected governor.
