Wike Calls for PDP Support for Tinubu's 2027 Bid

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, has urged members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and other opposition parties to support President Bola Tinubu's bid for re-election in the 2027 general elections. During a meeting with stakeholders in Rivers State, Wike noted that many politicians are competing to demonstrate their contributions to Tinubu's potential victory, stating that those who help secure votes will seek rewards afterward.

He emphasized that all members of the PDP should unite in support of Tinubu, asserting that "everybody will collapse and vote for Mr. President." However, Wike clarified that while he advocates for Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the presidential level, he intends to maintain local political control in Rivers State, asserting, "I won’t go empty-handed," indicating he will not allow the APC to dominate local elections.
