Wike Declares Rivers Support for Tinubu's 2027 Bid

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, announced that Rivers State would support President Bola Tinubu's re-election in 2027, referring to Tinubu as "our brother." This declaration was made during a grand reception organized by the Rainbow Coalition in Ikwerre Local Government Area on a date not specified. Wike reflected on the support he received from Ikwerre during his 2015 governorship campaign, noting that despite the incumbent governor being from Ikwerre, the community backed him.

He highlighted political brotherhood as a relationship based on concern for the people's welfare rather than blood ties, citing Tinubu's appointments, including Prof. Okechukwu Onuchukwu as Vice-Chancellor of the University of Port Harcourt and the establishment of the University of Environment and Technology, Ogoni, as evidence of Tinubu's commitment to Rivers State. Wike compared federal appointments received by Rivers State under past administrations to those under Tinubu, asserting that the state has seen greater representation in just three years.
