INEC Rejects Goodluck Jonathan's 2027 Nomination Submission

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has rejected the presidential election nomination of former President Goodluck Jonathan for the 2027 election. This nomination was submitted by the Taminu Turaki faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The PDP faction had announced that the submission, which included names of its governorship, National Assembly, and state assembly candidates, was done manually because they were denied access to INEC’s electronic nomination platform. However, INEC, through its Director of Voter Education and Publicity, Victoria Eta-Messi, stated that nominations must be processed through the designated online portal as per electoral regulations.

Eta-Messi emphasized that the commission does not recognize manual submissions of candidates. This decision effectively nullifies the nomination submitted by the Turaki faction and raises questions regarding the validity of the candidates presented by this group.
