INEC Urges National Assembly for Speedy Electoral Act Review for 2027 Elections

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is urging the National Assembly to expedite the review of the Electoral Act ahead of the 2027 elections. INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, expressed concerns about the delay in the legislative process, highlighting the importance of a clear legal framework for the upcoming polls.

The EU Mission also emphasized the need for improvements in Nigeria's electoral processes through legislative interventions. INEC stressed the necessity for early passage of the electoral reform proposal to facilitate election planning.
