Mato: Kwankwaso's Party Switch Will Comply with Electoral Act

Magaji Mato, a chieftain of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), addressed concerns regarding Rabiu Kwankwaso's decision to potentially leave the NNPP for another political party. He emphasized that this move would not contravene the Electoral Act, specifically regarding the 2026 electoral registration requirements.

Mato reassured that the NNPP is actively managing the situation and that Kwankwaso's name would not appear on the registration of two parties simultaneously. He confirmed that all necessary actions will be taken to ensure compliance with the Electoral Act, allowing for a smooth transition should Kwankwaso decide to defect.

Mato expressed confidence that the party would meet all deadlines and ensure that the electoral process remains transparent, allowing the electorate to freely choose their leaders for the upcoming 2027 elections.
