Hakeem Lawal Backs APC for 2027 Elections in Kwara

Hakeem Lawal, the former governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the 2023 election, has publicly declared his support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the 2027 general elections approach. This declaration took place on Saturday in Ilorin, where Lawal expressed his loyalty to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and the APC’s governorship candidate, Yakubu Salihu-Danladi.

Lawal, who is the son of the late former Kwara State Governor Muhammad Lawal, returned to the APC after his candidacy with the SDP. He encouraged disaffected APC members to rejoin the party, asserting that political opportunities would arise for them.

Lawal emphasized the importance of unity within the party, dismissing rumors of discord between the APC governorship candidate and his running mate, Kayode Alabi, as mere propaganda. He acknowledged that disagreements are common in politics but expressed confidence that the APC would resolve its internal issues and remain united ahead of the elections.

Lawal also recognized President Bola Tinubu as the national leader of the APC.
