Bago Names Yakubu Garba as 2027 Running Mate in Niger

Umaru Moham Bago, the Governor of Niger State, has officially announced Yakubu Garba as his running mate for the upcoming 2027 governorship election. The announcement took place on Tuesday at the Government House in Minna, in accordance with the provisions of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Governor Bago submitted the nomination to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), which is responsible for overseeing the electoral process. Yakubu Garba, who has a background as a retired civil servant and politician, previously served as the Deputy Governor of Niger State since May 29, 2023.

He represented the Shiroro constituency in the Niger State House of Assembly and has held various leadership positions within the state’s civil service and political landscape. The announcement comes after a period of speculation regarding the selection of a running mate for the 2027 elections.
