Ogun West Backs Tinubu and Adeola for 2027 Governorship

On February 1, 2026, Ogun West Professionals convened in Ilaro, Ogun State, to endorse Bola Tinubu and Olamilekan Adeola for the 2027 Ogun State governorship. The gathering, attended by various political and social groups, aimed to address the region's long-standing inability to produce a governor over the past 50 years, attributed to internal political discord among its diverse Yoruba sub-ethnic groups.

Guest speaker Vopeyemi Bamidel emphasized the need for unity, contrasting Ogun West's situation with Ogun Central and Ogun East, which have successfully produced governors. The event also featured remarks from Ogun State Health Minister Iziak Adekunle Salako, who praised Adeola's political stature and called for collaborative efforts to realize the goal of occupying the governor's office.

The assembly underscored the importance of overcoming ethnic divisions and political disadvantages faced by Ogun West, which has a population of 1,146,006 across five local governments, compared to Ogun Central and Ogun East.
