Ovie Omo-Agege Affirms Candidacy for 2027 Election

Ovie Omo-Agege, the former Deputy President of the Senate, clarified that the Supreme Court judgment regarding the Electoral Act does not disqualify him from contesting the 2027 Delta Central Senatorial election. In a statement issued on Saturday in Asaba by his Special Adviser on Strategy and Communications, Godwin Anaighe, Omo-Agege noted that the judgment did not bar him from participating in the election.

He explained that the ruling merely restored specific sections of the Electoral Act 2026 concerning party membership registers and candidate nominations. Omo-Agege dismissed claims from supporters of Ede Dafinone, the All Progressives Congress candidate, who celebrated the judgment as a victory.

He asserted that his name was included in the Nigeria Democratic Congress membership register submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission before May 10 and appeared on the final list of candidates published by INEC. Omo-Agege urged his opponents to focus on their records and programs rather than political propaganda.
