Opposition Leaders Unite Against Tinubu's 2027 Candidacy

Opposition leaders in Nigeria have come together to challenge President Bola Tinubu's alleged plan to present himself as the sole candidate for the 2027 presidential elections. This declaration was made through a communiqué issued at the end of a meeting held on Saturday in Ibadan, Oyo State, hosted by Governor Seyi Makinde.

Key figures in attendance included former Vice President Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, former Senate President David Mark, and various former governors such as Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State, Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State, and Rabiu Kwankwaso of Kano State. The leaders emphasized their commitment to preventing any imposition of a candidate by the ruling party.

They also called on Joash Amupitan, the state chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), to ensure that the upcoming general elections in 2027 are conducted fairly and transparently.
