Momodu Claims Tinubu Aims for Sole Candidate in 2027

Dele Momodu, a prominent chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has asserted that the ultimate goal of President Bola Tinubu and his supporters is to produce a sole candidate for the upcoming 2027 general elections. Momodu's remarks were made in response to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) recognizing a faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) led by Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

He criticized INEC's decision, describing the electoral body as a "debilitating albatross" for the country. Momodu's comments reflect concerns regarding the electoral process and the implications of INEC's recent interpretations of court rulings, particularly in light of the last time a sole candidate was sought during the tenure of late General Sani Abacha.
