Yusuf: Peter Obi Not Sellable in Northern Nigeria

Usman Yusuf, the former head of Nigeria's National Health Insurance Scheme, declared that Peter Obi, the presidential candidate for the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), is not sellable in Northern Nigeria. Yusuf emphasized that Obi's inability to penetrate the North is the "honest truth," attributing this to Obi's association with the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), which is designated as a terrorist group.

Yusuf stated that the North would interrogate Obi regarding his tenure as governor and his connections to IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu. He criticized Obi's campaign strategy, suggesting that it was heavily focused on Igbos and Christians, which alienated Muslim voters.

Yusuf questioned how Obi expected to gain support in the North when his campaign primarily targeted churches and Christian communities during the 2023 elections. He expressed skepticism about any potential for Obi to receive votes in the North, highlighting the need for Obi to clarify his stance on various issues.
