Former Taraba Rep Sokpo Aims for NASS Return in 2027

Sokpo, who served as the representative for his constituency from 2019 to 2023, announced his intention to run for a seat in the National Assembly again in 2027. He made this declaration during an interview with newsmen in Makurdi, where he expressed that the decision was influenced by constituents and supporters urging him to return.

Sokpo highlighted that his previous tenure allowed him to initiate several projects and demonstrated his commitment to the welfare of his constituents, which has led to calls for his return. He emphasized that he would bring greater experience to the position, focusing on proper representation and effective lawmaking if elected.

Additionally, Sokpo mentioned that the NDC comprises experienced politicians with established networks across Benue and expressed confidence in the party's performance in the upcoming national and state elections, noting that it has learned from the challenges faced during the 2023 elections.
