Abia Governor Otti Declines to Oppose Tinubu's 2027 Bid

Abia State Governor Alex Otti expressed that openly opposing President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid could lead to an “implosion” within the government. During an interview with Arise Television, Otti, a member of the Labour Party and the National Economic Council (NEC), stated that his position in the NEC complicates any public opposition to Tinubu's candidacy.

He clarified that while he has a presidential candidate within the Labour Party, he cannot outright oppose Tinubu. Otti mentioned that he prefers to raise any disagreements regarding government policies in official meetings rather than publicly.

He argued that opposing Tinubu while being part of the government could create internal divisions. Otti acknowledged that some of Tinubu’s policies, such as the removal of the petrol subsidy, align with his views, although he recognized that others might disagree with him on this matter.
