2027 Presidency: Northern Forum Warns APC, Tinubu Against Repeating Muslim-Muslim Ticket

The Northern Forum has issued a warning to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Bola Tinubu against repeating a Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket for the 2027 elections. The group emphasized that a balanced ticket would enhance national unity and electoral success.

Despite criticism, Tinubu chose a former Borno State governor as his running mate in 2023, leading to concerns of religious tensions and alienation of northern Christians. The forum highlighted that 80% of northern Christians rejected the APC in 2023, resulting in defections of Christian politicians in protest.

The group cautioned that repeating the strategy in 2027 could be detrimental to the ruling party, potentially leading to the dismantling of its support base. The forum recommended Tinubu consider a running mate from Plateau, Taraba, or Bauchi State to maintain religious balance and follow an inclusive model set by past presidents.
