Onanuga Questions Obi's One-Term Presidential Promise

Bayo Onanuga, a presidential aide, has raised concerns regarding Peter Obi's promise to serve only one term if elected president. Onanuga referenced Obi's political history, including his previous allegiance to the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and his past pledges.

He expressed skepticism about Obi's commitment, suggesting that his record indicates a lack of trustworthiness regarding political promises. Onanuga highlighted Obi's recent defection to the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) alongside Rabiu Kwankwaso of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), where they are expected to run on a joint ticket.

This move is seen as an effort to consolidate support from the northern region, with the NDC convention scheduled for May 9 in Abuja, where they will discuss the presidential ticket, which is expected to return to the north in 2031.
