Rotimi Amaechi Enters 2027 Presidential Race with ADC

Rotimi Amaechi, a former Minister of Transport and two-term Governor of Rivers State, has joined the presidential race for the 2027 elections by obtaining a nomination form from the African Democratic Congress (ADC). The form was collected on Friday at the party's national secretariat in Abuja, with the cost reported to be 90 million naira.

The collection was facilitated by a delegation led by John Odigi Oyegun, a former Governor of Edo State, and included Senator Abatemi Usman, who picked the form on Amaechi's behalf. Amaechi, who has previously served as the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, is the second aspirant to formally enter the ADC presidential contest, following Alhaji Moham Hayatu-Deen.

He has received endorsements from several groups, particularly within the South South region, and is advocating for reforms centered on security, economic development, infrastructure, and youth inclusion, with a focus on rotating power to the southern region. Amaechi's experience in governance positions him strongly to address Nigeria's challenges ahead of the 2027 general elections.
