Amaechi Rejects Consensus Candidates for ADC in 2027

In a recent discussion, Rotimi Amaechi, the former governor of Rivers State and a notable figure in Nigerian politics, addressed the upcoming 2027 presidential election. He asserted that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) will not seek a consensus candidate, indicating that the party's candidates should be determined through proper primaries.

Amaechi mentioned that both Peter Obi, the former governor of Anambra State, and Atiku Abubakar, the former vice president, are expected to emerge as candidates for the ADC. He emphasized that the party must focus on national interests rather than regional affiliations, stating that he does not identify as a regional candidate despite being from the Igbo ethnic group.

Furthermore, Amaechi criticized the current administration's religious agenda, particularly the Muslim-Muslim ticket, and expressed concerns about the economic situation, highlighting the complexities of the Nigerian market.
