Kwara Central Politics Heat Up Ahead of 2027 Elections

The political dynamics in Kwara Central are becoming increasingly unsettled as the 2027 senatorial elections approach. Alhaji Toyin Olosasa, a former chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ilorin West Local Government Area, has publicly called for Governor Alhaji Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq to consider appointive positions instead of elective ones for the upcoming elections.

This statement, made during a radio discussion in Ilorin, has sparked disharmony among party members. Olosasa's remarks come in light of the APC's performance in the last local government elections, which he claims did not reflect the party's actual support base.

Political pressure is mounting on Governor Abdulrazaq to represent the Kwara Central district in the Senate during the 2027 general elections. Stakeholders, including elected chairmen and community leaders from four local government areas, have urged the governor to heed the collective wishes of the people and continue his service at the federal level.
