ADC Plans Independent Vote Protection for 2027 Elections

The African Democratic Congress (ADC), through its National Publicity Secretary Bolaji Abdullahi, declared its intention to independently safeguard its votes in the upcoming 2027 general elections. Abdullahi made this announcement during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, emphasizing that the party would not rely solely on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for vote protection.

This decision stems from the ADC's experiences during the 2023 general elections, where candidates were misled by INEC's assurances of automatic result transmission to the IReV portal, which ultimately failed due to a reported technical glitch. Abdullahi, who ran for Senate in 2023, stated that the ADC would implement measures to monitor and collate results from polling units, asserting that the party would only accept results that accurately reflect the votes recorded.

He affirmed the party's commitment to vigilantly guard its votes, indicating a shift from previous reliance on INEC.
