PRP's Hakeem Baba-Ahmed Sets Conditions for 2027 Coalition

The Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), under the leadership of National Chairman Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, has expressed willingness to participate in an emerging opposition coalition ahead of the 2027 general elections. Baba-Ahmed stated in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kaduna that while the PRP is part of the coalition in principle, it will not sacrifice its ideology, identity, or core principles for the alliance.

He emphasized the need for the coalition to have a clear purpose beyond merely removing the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led administration from power, urging that Nigerians should be presented with concrete solutions to major challenges such as insecurity and poverty. Baba-Ahmed noted that around six or seven active opposition parties are currently collaborating within the coalition, which he described as a “coalition of the willing and the able.” He warned that the PRP would withdraw if the coalition adopted any policies or strategies inconsistent with its core values.
