Professor Warns of Implosion Risk as Plateau Governor Defects to APC

Professor Jideofor Adibe from Nasarawa State University has expressed concerns that the ongoing defection of politicians to the All Progressives Congress (APC) could result in an implosion within the party. This warning comes as Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC, announcing his bid for a second term.

Adibe highlighted that the APC may struggle to provide a credible alternative in the upcoming 2027 general elections, potentially attracting disgruntled politicians whose aspirations were not met in their previous parties. Adibe's remarks were made in response to Mutfwang's defection during an interview on a political program on a television channel.

The professor emphasized the need for the APC to present itself as a credible option to avoid internal conflicts and attract quality recruits.
