Plateau Governor Defends APC Defection, Cites State's Interest

Plateau State Governor Mutfwang has defended his decision to defect from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC). He refuted claims of betrayal, stating that the move was made in the best interest of Plateau State rather than personal political survival.

Despite facing criticism for the defection, Mutfwang highlighted that the decision was carefully considered, taking into account the state's political future and current conditions. He mentioned that the PDP is in deep turmoil with lingering crises, making it an unreliable platform for the 2023 general elections.

Mutfwang initially had no intention of leaving the PDP but succumbed to pressure, including overtures from influential figures like Bola Tinubu. The Governor believes that aligning with the APC will bring greater benefits to Plateau State, particularly in sectors like education, security, and agriculture.

He assured Plateau voters of his commitment to their collective interest and expressed confidence in their understanding of the leadership decision. Mutfwang emphasized engaging with grassroots communities to explain the rationale behind his defection.
