Tinubu's 'City Boy' Movement Fails in Southeast Nigeria

Aloi Ejimakor, counsel for the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader Nnamdi Kanu, stated that the 'City Boy' movement, which supports Bola Ahmed Tinubu's 2027 re-election bid, has struggled to gain traction in Southeast Nigeria. Ejimakor attributed this failure to a significant disinterest in electoral politics among the region's youth, particularly as long as Nnamdi Kanu remains imprisoned.

He emphasized that Kanu's ongoing incarceration has become a dominant issue shaping the political attitudes of the Igbo youth. The movement, which appointed popular hotel businessman Obinna Iyiegbu, also known as Obi Cubana, as its Southeast coordinator, reportedly fell short of success in Imo State.

Ejimakor's remarks highlight the challenges faced by political movements in the region, especially in engaging younger voters who are disillusioned with the electoral process.
