FG Launches Digital Training Academy for 32,000 Nigerians

The Federal Government of Nigeria has initiated a six-month Digital Training Academy aimed at providing 32,000 Nigerians with essential digital skills and professional certifications. Announced by the Federal Ministry of Education on Tuesday, the program seeks to bridge the digital skills gap and create pathways for employment and entrepreneurship in the global digital economy.

Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Alausa, revealed that out of 72,850 applications received from across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, 19,699 met the entry requirements, with 16,000 selected for the first cohort. The training will focus on high-demand areas such as software development, cybersecurity, Artificial Intelligence, and cloud computing, with beneficiaries gaining access to platforms like Coursera and certifications from Google, IBM, and Huawei.

The initiative is part of the Nigeria Education Digital Infrastructure programme and aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. The program will be implemented in collaboration with the National Open University of Nigeria and Yaba College of Technology.
