42 Schoolchildren Abducted in Borno State, Parents Distraught

On Friday, 40 children were abducted from Mussa Central Primary School and Government Day Secondary School in Askira Uba Local Government Area, Borno State, by gunmen who used the children as human shields while fleeing on motorcycles. Parents, including Muhammad Saleh, expressed their anguish over the lack of communication from the abductors and the absence of government support.

Senator Moham Ali Ndume confirmed that 42 pupils were taken, including 28 from the primary section and four from the secondary school. The attack occurred around 9 AM, and residents reported hearing gunshots as the assailants captured the children.

The community remains traumatized, with fears that Boko Haram may attempt to recruit the abducted children. Despite security operations being initiated, no children have been found, and parents lament the lack of government response.

Governor Babagana Zulum's spokesperson, Dauda Iliya, stated that the governor is in constant contact with security chiefs regarding the situation.
