Kaduna Youths Clash Over Cemetery Dispute, Four Hospitalized

On Sunday at 7:30 AM, a conflict erupted in Kaduna between youths from the Kakuri Community and neighboring Nasarawa Community over a cemetery dispute. The disagreement arose when youths from Nasarawa allegedly attempted to clean the cemetery, leading to confrontations with youths playing football nearby.

The situation escalated when a group arrived to bury a deceased person, identified as Timothy. Security operations by the Intern Security Garrison Command swiftly intervened to contain the situation.

Reports indicate that two houses were set ablaze during the unrest, resulting in four individuals being hospitalized with critical injuries. Fortunately, there were no casualties, as many residents were asleep when the incident occurred.

Sources suggest that the crisis later took on a religious dimension, despite the cemetery being previously demarcated for both Muslim and Christian residents. The Kaduna State Police Command's public relations officer, DSP Mansir Hassan, confirmed that calm has since been restored to the community.
