EFCC Probes Benue Officials Over ₦4.6bn Fraud Allegations

The EFCC has questioned Benue State officials, including the Bureau of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, over a reported ₦4.6 billion fraud. The investigation centers on consultancy fees allegedly misappropriated for auditing local government staff pensions and healthcare workers.

The EFCC's probe revealed discrepancies in consultancy payments across the state's 23 local government councils. Benue State's Commissioner for Finance, Michael Oglegba, affirmed the government's non-interference and commitment to cooperating with the EFCC's investigation to ensure due process.
