EFCC Detains Benue Officials Over Alleged N4.6bn Scam

The EFCC has detained top officials from the Benue State Bureau of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs over an alleged N4.6 billion scam. The detained individuals include Ayu Terna, Bishop Dzungw, Abba Adaudu Nongomi, and Vitali Neji.

The funds were purportedly siphoned through consultancy arrangements and approved audits for local government staff pensions and healthcare workers. Michael Oglegba, the Benue State Commissioner for Finance, confirmed the arrests.

The investigation revealed irregularities in consultancy fees, prompting the EFCC to question 23 local government chairmen. The state government has stated it will not interfere with the EFCC's probe.
