ADC Faces 49 Disputes Ahead of 2027 Elections in Kaduna

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kaduna is currently grappling with no fewer than 49 post-primary disputes that have emerged following the recent gubernatorial primary elections. Hassan Ahmadu, a party member, has expressed concerns that unless these disputes are resolved quickly, the party may face prolonged legal battles and internal divisions as they approach the 2027 general elections.

The disputes span various positions, including governorship, senatorial, and House of Representatives primaries, with allegations of voter exclusion, hijacking of electoral materials, and procedural irregularities. The gubernatorial primary has been particularly contentious, with Isa Ashiru initially declared the winner, but later affirmed by the party's appeal committee as Shuaibu Idri Mikati.

This controversy has heightened uncertainty within the party and raised questions about the credibility of the primary process. Additionally, the ADC's North West National Vice Chairman, Mallam Jafaru Sani, is viewed as a unifying figure capable of restoring confidence within the Kaduna chapter.
